Team Starcraft Keeps it Rollin' in 2012

Team Starcraft Wins another MWC Event!

As the famous lyrics of Mr. John Fogerty of CCR goes Team Starcraft over the past few years. They are "Rollin', Rollin', Rollin' on the river!"After taking two of the three Eastern Division MWC events last year in 2011 Team Starcraft continues to deliver the knockout punch to start 2012!  Team Starcraft  pro Larry Rhoads II out of Oregonia Ohio and his partner Dan Johnson from Fayetteville Ohio took to the waters of the Illinois River this past weekend for the season kick off of the Cabelas MWC Walleye Circuit!  Larry and Dan are veteran anglers and work very hard at every event they compete in both in pre fish and during the tournament. Larry and Dan won the Eastern Division Team of the Year title in 2010 on the MWC circuit.  This is a well deserved win as they have been in the hunt on numerous occasions having seven top 10's on the MWC and were runner up in 2010 for the Overall Team of the Year title on the MWC as well.

Larry just came on board this year with Team Starcraft and is a welcome addition to our team.  He came out "guns a blazin'" pulling down a huge win at Spring Valley against a field of 154 teams competing for over $20,000 cash for first place.  Larry and Dan were in 77th place after day one with a total of 7.66 lbs and just trying to stay alive to be in the hunt for a check on Sunday.  They talked it over that night and said lets do something different day two.  The options were to try to hit a home run and go spot hopping away from the rest of the field or just have another average day and hope to cash a check and get some good points for the chase!  Well the gamble paid off big time as they ran upstream away from the rest of the pack and caught fish using three different methods throughout the course of the day.  They came in with a whopping 12.30 lb basket day two to give them a two day total of 19.96lbs and enough for the win.

Larry Rhodes quoted " It hasn't sunk in yet."  "It was unbelievable to come from that far back and bring home the win against this field of anglers. Spring Valley was my first tournament running the new Starcraft STX 206 Viper.  I can't say enough about how well the boat preformed in tournament conditions.  This boat is a winner!  Plenty of storage for all my gear, super smooth ride and a very very dry ride. To win Spring Valley it took multiple presentations, trolling and jigging.  Of course you will not find a tournament boat with more room for trolling, but what really impressed me was how well the boat held a line when vertical jigging in strong current.  The boat doesn't get blown around by the wind and the big fish that captured the win came jigging!  Way to go Starcraft Marine! You have built a great boat! Thanks Greg!  The boat rocks!"

Great job and congratulations Larry and Dan!  We wish you the best of luck the rest of the season. Let's keep it "rollin' on the Detroit River" in a few weeks.  Look for Larry and Dan in the Mercury powered Starcraft STX 206 Viper at the Detroit River MWC event coming up in April.
