ZART's win OWF Championship

Congratulations goes out to the Father and son team of Gary and Nicholas Zart along with their teammate Joe Nadzam for winning the OWF (Ohio Walleye Federation) Walleye Championship this past weekend out of Ashtabula on Lake Erie in Ohio.  In addition to the Championship victory they also captured their third Team of the Year title on this circuit over the last for years.  What an incredible year for a great group of Anglers that represent Starcraft Marine.  These guys are not only top notch anglers but Gary and Nicholas also work directly as pro staff members with Vic's Sports Center out of Kent, OH at boat shows, open houses and special events.  This crew knows how to get it done both on the water and off.  Gary and Nicholas run the Starcraft STX 2050 multi - species model and Joe runs a Starcraft Superfisherman series boat.  When it comes to big water  guiding and tournament fishing these guys have the right boats and the experience and skills to make it happen. Please check out the press release below from the OWF.  Great job guys.  We are very proud of you!

Press Release:

The Ohio Walleye Federation held its annual 2-day CBC championship out of Ashtabula, OH on August 10th and 11th.  Twenty-three teams participated in the 100% payback championship.  Teams reported catching lots of fish, but finding and staying on the big fish amongst schools of walleyes which seemed to be miles long was the challenge.  At the end of the two days of competition the team of Gary Zart, Nicholas Zart and Joe Nadzam overcame more than a 3.5lb deficit over the day 1 leader’s Leigh, Leigh and Leigh with a 43.44lb day 2 weight to win the 2013 CBC Championship.  The team of Zart, Zart and Nadzam reported catching their fish trolling worm harnesses with dipsy divers, 3 & 4 oz in-line weights and #3 OffShore Tad Poles 10-14 miles N of Ashtabula in 72-73ft of water.  Most of the other placing teams also mentioned  trolling worm harnesses with dipsy divers or in-line weights targeting 45-60ft of water.  Wireline and crankbaits  300’-350’ out were also productive for some teams.  The CBC Team of the Year honors also went to Zart, Zart and Nadzam  as well.  This was their 3rd CBC Team of the Year Title in the last 4 years.  The Ohio Walleye Cup Champions, which is determined by the top 5 points total of any combination of ILC and CBC tournaments, was won by the Team of Mitch Shipman & Chris Shipman.  This was their 2nd Ohio Walleye Cup title in the last 4 years.  Complete tournament results and more information of the Ohio Walleye Federation can be found at www.fishowf.com.
